Considered by many to be the ‘original recycled material’, the remarkable texture, colours and built-in sustainability of Terrazzo translates perfectly into Scheepjes' first 100% recycled yarn!

Named after the Italian word for ‘terrace’, Terrazzo inspires the yarn’s rustic look and feel, with multicoloured flecks mimicking the way this classic material catches the light and intensifies colour in the sunshine. The timeless aesthetic of Terrazzo tiles is modernised in this Premium Blend yarn that’s perfect for knitting and crocheting high quality garments, homeware and accessories.

Thanks to the natural properties of wool, Scheepjes Terrazzo is lightweight and warm, with added softness and easy-care qualities afforded by blending wool with viscose. Composed of multi-tonal base shades that are enhanced by contrasting and complementing flecks of colour, the result is a felted, tweed effect yarn with gentle stitch definition and impressive texture.

Available in a huge range of 60 colourways, our Terrazzo yarn makes a wonderful sustainable choice for colourwork techniques such as Fair Isle knitting and Brioche crochet. It also works well in combination with our Alpaca Rhythm and Mohair Rhythm yarns, offering crafters options for experimenting with texture.

To ensure projects crafted with Scheepjes Terrazzo stay looking their absolute best, Scheepjes have updated and clarified the advice for laundering. Scheepjes recommend hand washing only, at a maximum temperature of 30°C. To prevent possible further felting, the item should be washed separately, with minimal agitation. Excess water should be gently squeezed out, rather than wrung.

Its ok

Not super soft, kinda scratchy, and does not require scissors to cut it. But has decent stitch definition.

Beautiful colour

The colour I bought (Fontana) is exactly what I wanted, and the flecks of colour really add dimension to my project. However, I was disappointed at how easily it tore when frogging a couple of short rows. It doesn’t seem as strong as I was expecting. Overall I’m happy and enjoy working with it.
I am very happy with the service from Laura at Taemombo and the quick shipping! Great business!

Donkeys!

I purchased Terrazzo in three colours to make little donkeys for my grandnieces. The colours were great. The little flecks of other materials in the yarn were a nice touch making it look handspun. The yarn isn't soft. My fingers were rough and dry after making the donkeys. The worst part is the fragility of the yarn. When I was pulling the magic rings tight or sewing the pieces together, the yarn broke often.
