Scheepjes CKAL 2024 - Goldcrest Scarf Kit
2024 marks the 10-year anniversary of the very first Scheepjes Crochet-a-Long! Over the years, tens of thousands of crafters, united by their love of yarn, have joined in Scheepjes CALs, KAL and MALs. Everyone is welcome and crafters from all over the globe revel in the shared experience of simultaneously working on the same project, sharing their fabulous creations, supporting each other, and applauding new skills learned along the way.
Goldcrest Scarf by Martin Up North
Create a knitted or crocheted colourwork scarf, representing the beautiful shades of the goldcrest. Martin’s intricate designs, made with Scheepjes Metropolis incorporate a number of different techniques to keep the crafter engaged, including moss stitches, stripes, mosaic crochet and mosaic knitting.
Pattern Availability & Support
Designer Martin will be releasing blogposts, extra photos, videos and helpful tips for participants throughout the CKAL, along with the free knit and crochet patterns, which will typically be released on Wednesdays at 12 noon CET. Participants will be able to access the patterns via Scheepjes website and also via the Official Scheepjes International and Dutch Facebook Groups, where dedicated group admins and mods will be on hand at all times to offer pattern support.
A handy Tips & Tricks PDF with a summary of the materials, gauge/tension, measurements, pattern notes and chart notes, plus additional technical information, will be issued one week prior to the start of the CKAL.
Kit Contents:
- Scheepjes Metropolis 7 x 50g/200m balls
- Set of 3 postcards,
- Small notebook
- Themed washi tape
Crocheters will create a long rectangular scarf measuring 26 x 180cm (10¼ x 70¾”) using 3.5mm and 4mm hooks* which are not included in the kit and will be required.
Knitters will create a long rectangular scarf measuring 25 x 170cm (9¾ x 67”). A set of five 3mm* dpns, 2 x 3mm* circular needles 80cm long (or 1 x 3mm* needle plus a stitch holder), a 3mm* crochet hook (for pinhole cast on) and 4 stitchmarkers are not included in the kit and will be required.
